Who I Am

I am an independent developer and small business owner who grew up in Wyoming and is now based in Denver Colorado. I have an opinionated deaf white cat who is awesome and I enjoy being outdoors when I'm not trying to solve a problem in front of a computer screen.

My primary technical experience lies in building static websites with Hugo, Eleventy, or Astro and creating automation chains, integrations, and internal tools for businesses both with custom code or with available no-code / low-code automation software.

I'm currently job hunting for an engineering role in the Denver area or remotely. I'm looking for a full time position to:

• Work on larger more challenging projects to expand my technical skillset and experience
• Work with other talented engineers and people

What I'm Doing Now

Freelance Software Developer

• Built a full Dealer Management System (DMS) for a vintage supercar dealer selling 2-ish cars a month at an average price of ~$2mil
• Designed and built a custom sync system for a large VC to sync their DealCloud data with their local Airtable base so their Investor Relations team has more access to the data in real time
• Rebuilding the software system I use to run our holiday lighting company in Go to learn the Go programming language

Owner / Operator Tis the Season Holiday Lighting

• Started from 0 and now install between 900 and 1,000 homes and businesses in a 60 day seasonal window
• Over the years I've built tools to help our team:
1. Automate SMS communication - we send a lot of texts
2. Build and send 900 to 1,000 Stripe checkout links for billing
3. Process Stripe payment webhooks so we can easily keep track of who is paid and who is not
4. Route optimize the installation schedule for all our install teams
• I had this all built as small handlers in Typescript on Val Town, but this year am rebuilding in Go on a virtual machine at exe.dev

What I've Done

Owner / Operater Great Plains Painting

• Started and grew a residential / commercial painting company to $1mil in annual gross revenue
• Built our websites, internal tools, and connected vairous software we used into a central hub

Staff Engineer at Shannon and Wilson

• Seismic design of foundation systems in the Los Angeles area for a geotechnical consultant

Field Engineer at Kiewit Power Constructors

• Estimating for steel and piping on combined cycle power projects
• Managed welding operations for Heat Recovery Steam Generators on a $600 million power project
